Pedagogic registration at The Eearth and Science Doctoral School

In order to be registered in the Doctoral School, a student must meet (at list) the following requirements:

• Defining a Ph.D subject the pedagogic team of the Doctoral School must know about.
• Choosing an advisor depending on one of the teams in IPGP or a ENS laboratory and getting the agreement from the team manager.
• Having a 3 year financing contract of at least 1400€/month.
• Having a research master degree (or a professionnal master degree with research experience).
• Having qualified with upper second class honours and/or being an outstanding student
• Applying for a position at the Doctoral School and being chosen after the interview.
  

Students will be registered administratively in Ph.D either at IPGP or at University of Paris-Diderot.

Registration Schedule

• Getting the files that need filling in from the Doctoral School secrétariat on the 3rd to 8th july 2013

• Registration will take place at the Doctoral school secretariat 1 rue Jussieu 75005 Paris 2nd floor on 9th to 12th of july 2013

Documents to provide

• Two 3*2 recent photographs are indispensable (Doctoral School file and student card)
• An ID photocopy
• Photocopy of your working contract or a certificate of agreement by EGIDE or CROUS or any other document indicating your salary and status.
• If you get a doctoral contract: the institution managing your working contract will contact you directly via HR department.
• A resumé.
• A copy of your Master Degree.
• Doctoral School file : (a file for academic year: All students starting a Ph.D at the Doctoral School must fill in a Doctoral School file ).

You will keep this file during your Ph.D and later when you look for a job. In this file is all the information about your Ph.D subject, your advisor and other information regarding your Ph.D as well as all the courses you have attended. You will need all this information when defending your thesis in 3 year.Later, it will be used as support to give all the needed information regarding the first years of your professional life. It will need to be updated every year (Telephone number, courses, authorisation to get registered again, possible change of advisor...) Thus, don't forget to fill in the document regarding your parents'or relatives' address so that we can contact them during the 8 upcoming years. You will also find in this file a document concerning safety trainings every Ph.D student must attend in the IPGP laboratories.

Administrative registration

You will be registered either at Paris-Diderot University or at IPGP.

Administrative registration at Paris-Diderot University

For students having to register at Paris-Diderot University. You must download documents on Paris-Diderot University website then you'll have to get your Ph.D advisors to sign them, next you'll have to leave the whole documents at the Doctoral School Secretariat when you come to fill in your Doctoral School File (Don't forget the photograph). Laure Meynadier, the manager of Doctoral School will sign all the necessary documents for you to get registered administratively. The registration fees will be paid at the University of Paris-Diderot.

For students having to register at IPGP.

Administrative registration at ipgp

The Doctoral School file will be used as a registration file for IPGP. You need to get your file at the IPGP Secretariat as well as the IPGP "Charte des thèses". You will get your Ph.D advisor(s) to sign both documents. Don't forget to bring 2 photographs. For students who were already registered in France, please bring your "identifiant National Étudiant"(INE ou BEA).

• A copy of your health insurance european card. If you are a salaried employee please bring a copy of your working contract or certificate of financing.

For foreigners; please bring along with the documents above the following:

• A residence permit card.
• Birth certificate translated into french by a professional translator.
• A certified copy of the degrees translated into french.
• A certificate issued by social security for students under 28 on 01/10/2011 coming from a country in European Economic Space having a health insurance.

• Payment of the fees:
  • Registration fees and Médecine préventive: 385€ (in 2012-2013)
  • Possible payment for social security: 207 € (in 2012-2013)
• Payment terms:
  • By check to the "agent comptable de l'IPGP"
• All students (including salaried employees, foreigners and those being registered in two institutions or those who are exempted from paying the registration fees MUST pay 5 € for the Médecine préventive.

Social security and complementary health insurance

Students with with a research contract signed either by IPGP or University of Paris-Diderot have a general social security cover as for every salaried employee. It is mandatory to register to the social security from the first day of the contract. In order to change status( from student to salaried employee), you must go to your local health insurance agency (cpam)to change your status.

It is highly recommended registering to a complementary health insurance. For national education you can choose either MGEN or MAGE as a complementary health insurance

For students who want to be affiliated to the students complementary health insurance,you can ask LMDE or SMEREP if it is possible.
