- Abstract:
The aim of this course is to present the different aspects of the first gravitational-waves detection by LIGO and Virgo. Mainly based on the publications by the LIGO-Virgo Collaboration, we aim to provide answers to the following questions: what exactly was observed? what are the sources? how the LIGO-Virgo data are analysed? how does the LIGO-Virgo detectors work? what are the implications of these discovery for general relativity and astrophysics? what are the future prospects for this field?
